An abstract handbuilt porcelain wall hanging by Dorothy Dunitz. This piece is a handbuilt folded and ruffled slab with a canvas-like texture and poured glaze in a sepia hue. The artist’s signature is inscribed to the verso and a French cleat hanging system is affixed.
Dorothy Dunitz (American, 1919-2016) was a well known Franklin, Michigan ceramicist, known for her abstract plate and plaque forms in porcelain, typically using a variety of textures and muted, earth toned glazes. Several of her pieces are held by the Detroit Institute of Art.
