Large Power-Loomed Sahand Persian Area Rug
Item Details
A large power-loomed Persian area rug by Sahand Carpet Co. This Iranian-made cotton-polyester rug features a Persian Nain-style design in a palette of blue-black, camel, coral, seafoam, pink and cream. It begins with a floral round medallion in seafoam, cream and pink with vasiform spokes. The medallion rests on a blue-black field filled with curvilinear swirling vines, palmettes, leaves, flowers and vases, elements that continue in camel-colored spandrels. Framing the field are four borders, including a wide herati primary border featuring elaborate palmettes, leaves and scrollwork over coral. Top and bottom finish with ivory applied fringe. A label on the reverse reads, in part, ‘Grade 1’ and ‘Weft Yarn Jute.’
