A circa 1844 Nathaniel Currier hand-tinted lithograph, titled ‘The President’s of the United States’. This print features the thirteen presidents, up to the President-Elect, James K. Polk. The first thirteen presidents are pictured with a smaller vignette underneath George Washington of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, with hand-tinted accents to the laurel leaves and flags. It is presented in a wood veneered frame with a wood backing and is marked towards the bottom ‘Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1844 by N. Currier, in the Clerk’s office of the District Court in the Southern District of New York’, as well as ‘Lith. & Pub. by N. Currier 2 Spruce St., N.Y.’.
Condition
- Tears to the bottom of the print and to the right side.
- Discoloration/wear.
- Chips to wood veneer.
- Backing is taped to the frame.
