An oil painting on canvas board of a rocky seascape by listed American artist Karl Albert (1911-2007). This seascape features tumultuous waves crashing into islands of large rock formations scattered throughout the scene. The painting is signed to the lower right. It is presented in a gold-tone wood frame with a canvas liner and a gold-tone sight edge. A label from Fabulous Frames is adhered to the verso.
Raised in Wyoming, Karl Albert moved to southern California with his family in 1923. He studied under Edgar Payne and Sam Hyde Harris, and continued his art training at the Art Center School in Los Angeles. Earlier in his career, he painted landscapes en plain air, then turned toward studio painting in a tighter, less impressionistic style.
