An oil painting on canvas board by Thomas Jefferson Willison (Kentucky, 1864-1940), depicting an autumnal landscape. This impressionistic work features a forest landscape with a thick brush of multi-colored trees, portrayed with loose brushstrokes and suppressed details. The painting is signed to the lower left and presented in a gold-tone wood frame with low-relief flower motifs.
T.J. Willison was born in Brent, Kentucky to a prosperous family. He studied art at the Cincinnati School of Art under Frank Duveneck and is known for his landscapes and river scenes.
