Hand-Knotted Persian Senneh Wool Area Rug

A hand-knotted Persian Senneh wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of scarlet, powder blue, buff, taupe, ivory, and indigo. The field begins with a bold scarlet crenelated lozenge, and features a rhomboid pendant medallion infilled with various latticed floral motifs, and both edged with a hooked and picket pattern. Those latticed floral motifs are also to the rest of the field and spandrels. Framing the field is a main medallion patterned border with multiple minor borders featuring cruciform or diamond motifs, while the ends offer a band of repeated animal head motif medallions. Finishing the rug are overcast selvedges and a double knotted ivory cotton warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
