Antique Handwoven Kazak Accent Rug
Item Details
An antique Kazak accent rug. This wool and camel-hair rug is handwoven in an abrashed palette of ruby, midnight blue, camel and azure. It begins with three large ram’s horn shields, each containing a square at the center, seeded with four geometric florets. The shields, two of which are midnight blue while one is camel-colored, rest on a ruby field, amid geometric floret fillers. Framing the field are three borders. These include a main border featuring a pattern of repeating florets and abstract geometric motifs in blue and ruby over camel, the main border flanked by running water minor borders. Selvedges are double overcast. Ends finish with unbound camel-hair fringe. Unlabeled.
Condition
- damage to selvedges, with loss to pile and exposed weft threads; separation of selvedge cords, unbound fringe with loss to pile; damage to corners.
