Johnson Brothers "Willow" Tableware

Item Details

A forty three piece collection of vintage tableware in the Willow pattern. This pattern has imagery derived from Chinese export porcelain that was first produced by Josiah Spode in 1790. The pattern became extremely popular and has been produced continuously ever since. It depicts a waterfront Chinese village scene with a pagoda, a boat, figures on a bridge and two birds flying overhead. This group is comprised of seven dinner plates and a variety of other tableware including dessert plates, cereal bowls, serving bowls, teacups and saucers. This is a mixed lot and as such, the values and shades of blue are not consistent. There are marks from Johnson Brothers, England as well as simple impressed, ‘USA’ marks. One of the Johnson Brothers marks, on a dinner plate, is contemporary.
