19th Century Bolivian Santos Figure in Glass Shrine

Item Details

A 19th century Bolivian carved and painted gesso over wood santos figure of Christ, presented seated in a painted shrine with glass panels. The seated figure of Christ wears a crown of metal thorns with flames and chains are wrapped at his shoulders and folded arms. Red lashes are painted at the figures back and the knees and shoulders are presented bloodied as well The figure sits in a turquoise and gold painted shrine with three glass panels at the front. a radiant finial at the top center and a hinged door at the back.

Condition

- shrine is in god condition, the figure shows old repairs and slight paint loss
