A wood engraving titled Jacob Wainwright and the Body of Dr. Livingstone by British artist Joseph Nash (1808-1878). This piece depicts Jacob Wainwright, a servant of explorer and missionary David Livingstone, as he is accompanying the body of Dr. Livingstone back to England after his death in Africa. In this piece, based off of a photograph, Jacob sits on a crate on the deck of the ship and leans against Livingstone’s coffin. It is initialed in plate to the lower left and presented in a white mat and unframed.

- accretion to mat; discoloration to surface of print; tape to the verso.
