An oil painting on canvas of a still-life by listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997), created in 1936. This painting features a Cézanne-esque still-life of a table setting. It is signed and dated in paint to the lower right. This painting remains unframed.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
