An oil painting on canvas of an abstract landscape by listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997), dated 1937. This work depicts an abstract scene comprised of a watercourse situated among a lush forested land. The piece is signed and dated in paint to the lower right. The item remains unframed.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.

- minor wear and minor paint loss along the edges of painting; minor stains and slightly visible stretcher mark throughout the composition.
