A 1930s original pen and ink drawing for the children’s book The Snow Owl’s Secret by listed Ohio author and illustrator Harriet Evatt (1895-1983). The drawing depicts a winter scene with crescent moon in the black sky, snow-covered pine tree to the background and child and dog beneath a double-trunked tree with a large owl flying overhead. The drawing is presented under glass in a white mat and narrow black frame. The work is wired to the verso for wall hanging. Harriet Torrey Evatt began her career as a painter of portraits, still lifes and landscapes. She studied art at the Columbus School of Fine Arts and was a long time resident of Southern Ohio.
