An Italian 19th century photograph of the courtyard in the Bargello Museum in Florence by the Alinari Brothers. The sepia tone photograph presents a wide angle view of a medieval courtyard with octagonal masonry drum columns featuring Corinthian capitals and barrel ceiling vaults in the foreground and down a colonnade to the right. The stone back wall is decorated with embossed rectangular medallions and arched windows, with a stone staircase going up to an upper colonnade. The courtyard features an octagonal baptismal font to the center of the stone floor, with classical statuary and Savonarola chairs to the courtyard’s perimeters. The photograph is displayed under glass in a dark wood frame. Wired to the verso for hanging. The Alinari Brothers founded their studio in Florence in 1852 and achieved international recognition for their portraiture, images of historic architecture and art images.
