Item Details
A 19th century original maritime oil on canvas. The Realist style unsigned painting depicts a flotilla of sailing schooners on a choppy body of water, with a cloud-filled blue sky above, and with a tugboat named ‘Alida’ approaching the fleet. The sailing ship to the mid ground is flying an American flag, along with a variety of other colorful nautical pennants. The painting is rendered with refined brushwork in a rich natural color palette of greens and blues. The painting is displayed in a beveled gilded frame, wired to the verso for hanging.
