An Indo-Persian gouache painting on silk of a gathering. This painting depicts a group of men corralled together on ornately patterned rugs, some of which spill overhead. They sit adorned in traditional robes and turbans with colored feathers protruding from the center, conversing with one another while kneeling and exchanging trays of what appears to be spices. The unsigned painting is surrounded by a foliate painted border in a palette of burgundy, cobalt blue and gold.
