Three Offset Lithographs After J.J. Grandville's "Les Fleurs Animées"

A set of three late 20th-century offset lithograph prints on paper after 19th-century engravings from Les Fleurs Animées (The Flowers Personified), originally by artists J.J. Grandville (Jean Ignace Isidore Gerard Grandville, 1803-1847) and Charles Michael Geoffroy (1819-1882). Included are Tulipe (Tulip), Pensée (Pansy) and Fleche-d’Eau (Sagittaria Sagittifolia), each depicting a flower anthropomorphized as a female figure. The prints include title and artist information printed in plate to the lower margins. They are presented under glass and decorative matting in matching gold tone wooden frames. Each frame includes a hanging wire to the verso, as well as a label with further information about the original engravings.

Condition

- minor discoloration present; edge wear and craquelure to surface of matting; edge wear to frames, with chips to frame moulding; larger rectangular chip to one frame edge.
