World War II Japanese Shin Guntō Sword

A World War II era Japanese shin guntō sword. This sword was machine-made near the end of World War II for a Japanese NCO. The single-edged, slightly curved blade leads to a brass habaki mount and solid tsuba crossguard with a central catch, with to a cord-wrapped grip. The sword is presented with a metal scabbard with a single suspension ring. This sword has no visible maker’s marks.

Condition

- some discoloration and scratches to blade; tarnish and discoloration throughout; grip wrapping is loose and misaligned; chipping at catch on scabbard; missing mekugi peg in grip.
