Vintage Five Gallon Stoneware Butter Churn
Item Details
A vintage five gallon stoneware butter churn. This piece can be attributed to the Burley Winter Pottery of Crooksville, Ohio and features a cobalt blue number ‘5’ centered in a heart shape on the outside of the vessel along with a wooden butter churn lid, handle and plunger mechanism as well as a single pouring aid handle and lug lift handle. The exterior is finished in a cream colored slip to the lower two-thirds of the vessel and dark brown Albany Slip to the upper third as well as on the inside. No other marks are present.
Condition
- scratches, wear and marks to glaze, X attachment is loose, stains to underside, marks to wood.
