Japanese Wood Sculpture of Sea Bird

A Japanese carved wood sculpture of a sea bird. On a base of carved leaves and other natural objects, the bird appears to be eating from a fruit or mollusk. The bird has two inlayed glass eyes. Not visibly signed or marked by the artist.

Condition

- cracks along the wood base; crack in the bird’s right ankle; dust on the sculpture; small pieces of wood on the base appear to have broken off.
