Okumura Shozan Japanese Ceramic Vase with Heron Design
Item Details
A Japanese ceramic vase with a dramatic heron design by Okumura Shōzan (奥村松山, 1842-1905). Featured is a black vase with dappling throughout the glaze. Two white herons stand huddled near one another as a black bird flies overhead. The underside is signed ‘Made by Okumura Shōzan’ (奥村松山造).
Condition
- craquelure present to underside due to firing process; dust present throughout.
