Early 20th Century Vintage Embroidered Silk Satin Uchikake Wedding Kimono
Item Details
An early 20th century vintage Japanese light pink silk satin uchikake wedding kimono. This kimono is hand decorated in an intricately embroidered pink and metallic design. This design features kujaku (peacock) and kiri motifs. The peacock is an auspicious symbol said to represent the conversion of poison desires into karmic beauty. The interior of the kimono is lined in red silk and the rolled hemline is weighted. A hand drawn label has been sewn into the lining.
Condition
- left sleeve is completely detached from kimono, ripping at collar in back, ripping at top of right sleeve, ripping along seam under each arm, and some ripping in lining, some discoloration and mild shredding to the silk.
