German 800 Silver Fiddle Thread Handle Spoons with Antique Stuttgart Spoon

A collection of twelve German 800 silver spoons. Featured are a set of eleven serving spoons, each featuring an oval bowl and a thin stem flaring to an exaggerated fiddle thread handle. The backs of the handles bear personalized engravings in Gothic lettering along with an ‘S&D Lowenthal’ retailer’s mark and German silver hallmarks of ‘800’, a crescent moon and crown (used after 1886). Also included is an antique pre-1886 Stuttgart, Germany 800 silver spoon marked with a personalized engraving in cursive script. The bowl bears a tremolierstich proof strike, a Stuttgart city mark and an unidentified maker’s mark to the reverse. The total approximate weight of all items is 27.530 ozt.
