A hand-knotted Indo-Persian Tabriz wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of black, cranberry, ivory, sage, rose, sky blue, and sand. The black hued field begins with a diamond pendant medallion with a floral theme, and features an abundance of flower motifs as well as birds tucked into the sprays. Framing the ornate field is an equally elaborate herati patterned main border stylized with added blooms, as well as a pair of carnation meander guard borders and running water minor borders. Finishing the rug are overcast selvedges and a double knotted ivory cotton warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
