A Japanese Kutani ware porcelain vase of figures in the garden. Hand-painted in red and gold-tones, the work depicts a group of three male figures in the garden around a table of food. The underside is marked ‘Great Japan, Kutani made’ (大日本九谷造).

Condition

- cracks to the underside of the vase and cracks of varying lengths in the rim and shoulder; a pair of firing damage spots on the body of the vase, likely the result of touching another piece when fired in the kiln.
