Arthur Helwig Champion Cat Oil Painting

Original framed painting by notable Cincinnati artist Arthur Louis Helwig (1899-1976). Painting is of ‘Champion S Premier Fu Manchu’ Persian cat with attentive eyes, bushy cream and cocoa coat, and surely a warm spirit. Gilt wood frame has small brass plate affixed to bottom with title and artist’s name. Signed by the artist in lower right corner. Metal wire fasted to back for hanging. Professionally framed by Ralice Studio, Cincinnati.

Helwig studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and both Academies Julian and Modern in Paris, and exhibited paintings and lithographs across the country and in Europe. He also served as president of the Cincinnati Art Club.

Condition

Signs of wear include small nicks to frame and small tears to backing.
