Vintage Hand-Knotted Caucasian Wool Area Rug

A hand-knotted Caucasian wool are rug on a wool foundation, attributed to Kazak weavers. This well rendered rug features a central field having a garden lattice pattern of quatrefoil florals and trefoil bound tree of life forms in a bright palette of scarlet and tomato reds, blood orange, indigo, ochre, peach, taupe, shades of green and ivory. The inner guard border is a reciprocal triangle pattern in indigo and scarlet, flanking the primary border. The wide main border is a bold floral and tree serrated leaf meander pattern in the field colors on an ivory ground. The rug is slight abrashed, with dark chocolate brown overcast edges and a cropped wool ivory warp fringe. It is unmarked.

- to fair for age and usel. Dirt and dust; could benefit from cleaning. Fringe has been cropped; brown binding along the selvedge edges has come loose or is missing in some areas; small amount of warping along the sides of the rug. Some areas of foundation knots showing through surface.
