A Japanese woodblock print on paper of silk makers by Utagawa Yoshikazu (歌川芳員, active 1848-1870). The print depicts a pair for figures preparing raw silk in a variety of patterns and blues. The title and an accompanying poem are printed along the top. The artist’s ‘Ichijusai Yoshikazu ga’ (一寿斎芳員画) signature is printed along the right edge and a censor seal along the lower edge. Housed in a wood frame under acrylic glass.
Condition
- to fair; minor wear to the finish on the frame; overall discoloration to the paper; smaller-than-dime-sized holes along the upper edge and corners of the paper; water stains to the verso.
