An original pastel drawing on paper of Marshall ‘Major’ Taylor by Randolph Smith. This two tone drawing on brown paper depicts a portrait of historic African American athlete and United States Bicycling Hall of Famer Marshall Taylor (1878-1932). The portrait of Taylor is flanked by images of racing cyclists and an ethereal background of billowing clouds. The work is signed by Smith in the lower right and dated 1997. It is presented under glass in a black wood frame with a hanging wire mounted to the verso.

Good; some scratches to frame.
