Pair of Chinese Bronze Censers in a Dragon and Phoenix Motif

Item Details

A pair of Chinese bronze censers with a phoenix and floral cartouche to the sides, and ornate phoenix handles with scrolls. The pierced floral top of the censors are adorned with sitting dragons with a key pattern. The censors base rest on three bats that form their feet, they are marked to the bottom with a four character seal. The dragon and phoenix symbols represent the Yin and Yang, male and female energies, or the emperor and empress. The bat fu 蝠 symbols represent good fortune. These symbols are used to represent the Qing dynasty period, but are of 20th century make.
