A handwoven Anatolian wool kilim. This flatweave area rug is rendered in a vibrant palette of marigold, crimson, black-sepia, clementine, powder blue, mauve, and ivory. The field begins with a hooked diamond medallion with mirrored borders infilled with floral, star, and animal head motifs, while edged in sawtooth patterns. Framing the field is a chained diamond and fetter motif to the edges, while rosettes and animal head mihrabs border the ends, as well as a meander minor border separating the two patterns. Finishing this unique rug are double overcast selvedges and a twisted ivory warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
