An original signed genre scene watercolor on paper by listed Indian artist Gideon Devapriam Thyaga Raj (born 1930). The work depicts a genre scene, with farmers and buffalo walking wearily down a shadow-darkened field after a long day of work, with a moody indigo-streaked evening sky above and silhouetted trees starkly framing the scene to the mid ground. The work is rendered in an expressive manner with bold brushwork and in rich shades of indigo, rose, tomato red, black and white. The painting is signed to the lower right corner and displayed under glass in a cream mat and black-painted beveled wooden frame with gilded trim. Wired to the back for hanging.
