An original signed genre scene watercolor on paper by listed Indian artist Gideon Devapriam Thyaga Raj (born 1930). The work depicts a genre scene with sun-washed white dwellings sitting high on a hill on the left side of the work, and featuring to the center, a caravan of ox-driven carts with strong shadows cast over the smooth dirt surfaces, and with a large tilted tree to the left mid ground and a darken tree and dwelling framing the composition to the right. The work is rendered in an expressive manner with bold brushwork and in rich shades of ocher, russet yellow, black and white. The painting is signed to the lower right corner and displayed under glass in cream and dark gray mats and cream-painted beveled wooden frame. Wired to the back for hanging.
