An original signed watercolor painting on paper of a streetscape by listed Indian artist Gideon Devapriam Thyaga Raj (born 1930). The work depicts a genre scene with sun-washed white dwellings to the left side, strong shadows cast over their smooth surfaces from overhanging trees to the right side of the work, with a wide street populated with men and women engaged in everyday activities. The work is rendered in an expressive manner with bold brushwork and rich shades of blue, green, yellow, black and white. The painting is signed to the lower left corner and displayed under glass in a cream mat and cream-painted wooden frame. Wired to the back for hanging.
