A hand-knotted Persian Hamadan area rug. This wool rug from central Iran features an elaborate herati pattern in red, teal, pink, cream and black; against a indigo field. The field is flanked by cream spandrels to each corner featuring floral and bird motifs. Unresolved carnation meander guard stripes and vermilion red floral main border surround the field. It has white cotton warp fringe to each end and overcast blue selvedges. Unmarked.
