Victorian Majolica Leaf Molded Platters
Item Details
A selection of three Victorian majolica leaf molded dishes. Included is an oak leaf piece with pierced handle and molded acorns to the well. It is decorated with a yellow rim and mottled brown to the base. This dish is accompanied by a begonia leaf tray accented with teal glazed rim. It is molded with a delicately scalloped edge and finished ivory to the base. Also included is a plate with a pink and brown banded design, sponged yellow to the underside. These earthenware pieces date to the late 19th century, when designs often celebrated natural forms and were accented with diffuse, polychrome glazes.
Condition
- noticeable crazing and chipping to edge of begonia leaf plate; small chips to edge of oak leaf plate; discoloration to base of pink rimmed plate; minor marks and faint scratches throughout.
