A woodblock print on laid paper, titled Yacht Racing – ‘Haul in the Main-Sheet’. This monochromatic print depicts a full sailing crew manning their stations as they try and level their yacht, which crashes against waves while turning around a buoy. To the lower right corner of the composition is a monogrammed, in plate signature that appears to read ‘W.J.P.S.’, dated 1879. This is complemented to the lower margins with a printed title, as well as a full date. The print is presented under glass beneath matting in an ornately moulded, dark wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.

Condition

- to fair; warping to paper; discoloration to paper; frame has surface wear consistent with age and use; chips to frames corners and edges.
