An R. Hinshelwood engraving on paper The Smoky Mountains. This print was engraved by R. Hinshelwood. It is after an original drawing by Homer Martin. It depicts a greyscale image of the idealized landscape of North Carolina’s Smokey Mountains. The image is rendered an intricate pattern of hatching and cross hatching of engraved linear forms. It is labeled in the margin with the artist’s names, the title, and the publisher ‘New York, D. Appleton & Co’. This piece is presented in a gold tone wooden frame, under glass, and with a wire hanger to its verso.

Condition

- adhesive residue on inner corners of frame and glass at bottom right corner; debris beneath glass.
