Antique Solar Lamp

An antique 19th century solar lamp. Solar lamps were made to burn whale oil or lard. The etched, cut, and frosted glass shade was designed to reflect the light of the central reservoir. This example includes drop prisms suspended from the brass collar, a tapered stand with rings, and polished stone plinth.
