Antique French Louis XV Style Book Cabinet

Item Details

An antique French made Louis XV style book cabinet, circa 1900. The carved beechwood cabinet is covered in diamond match veneer on the doors, front and sides. It includes an arched crest rail with an elaborate protruding central carving featuring shell and acanthus leaves with the frieze and stiles offering raised floral carvings. Two beveled glass paneled doors reveal three adjustable wooden shelves and one drawer. The case stands on cabriole legs with scroll and acanthus carvings joined by a scalloped and carved medallion apron. No discernible maker’s mark.
