A hand-knotted Indian wool carpet runner in a Persian style. The carpet runner features an all over herati pattern with arabesques, eight pointed stars and scrolling vines in a palette of crimson, navy, tawny brown, sepia and ivory on a moss green field. The field is framed with running water guard borders on sepia and a main border of large palmettes and foliate patterns grounded in ivory. The rug finishes with overcast selvedges and a woven mesh skirt with knotted fringe to each end. A merchant label located to the verso reads ‘India / A Gregorian Oriental’.
