A Fort Sumter commemorative baseball. The baseball includes red stitching and is marked ‘American Civil War The Battle of Fort Sumter South Carolina April 12-13, 1861’. It also includes corresponding picture vignettes such as a burning fort titled ‘First Conflict of the Civil War’, images of Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davies separated by markings that read ‘150 Commemoration of the American Civil War’, an image of Union Captain Abner Doubleday with additional markings that read ‘Inventor of Baseball Second in Command at Fort Sumter Fired the First Shot’ and images of Union Major Robert Anderson and Confederate Brigadier General P.G.T. Beauregard; both with a printed signature. The baseball has a shiny coating and includes an American Mint Certificate of Authenticity American Civil War Baseballs series, numbered 08071.
