A gouache painting on paper of a cityscape by an anonymous artist. This work depicts a view of urban buildings closely clustered together and rendered linearly in tones of black, white, and beige. The piece is not signed, but includes an address to the verso, though it is unclear if this is the artist. The work is presented behind an off white mat, behind glass, in a black wooden frame with a hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- warping to paper; discoloration and staining to mat; debris under glass; surface wear to frame; chipping, paint loss and scraping to frame; miters are loose; piece of wood split from lower right corner of frame.
