A ceramic sculpture titled Why Don’t You Speak for Yourself, John after sculptor John Rogers (American, 1829–1904). This work depicts a line from a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow titled The Courtship of Miles Standish. Featured is an interior scene with a man approaching a woman who is seated at a spinning wheel. The work is inscribed in-mold and reads ‘Patented Feb. 10 1885’ to the verso. This sculpture is presented atop a wooden stand and accompanied with a printed article by Ian Berke.
