A 19th-century French jewelry engraving titled Monture d’Escarcelle. The finely detailed black and white engraving shows two detailed views of a 16th-century mount for an escarcelle or purse. The mount served as a frame for a leather or cloth purse, which were worn by men at the waist and attached by a swivel mechanism. The engraving is displayed under glass in an off-white silk mat with gilt filet and narrow gilded wooden frame. Wired to the back for hanging.
