A hand-knotted Persian village accent rug. This wool rug features a floral design in a palette of cherry, azure, cream, midnight blue, peach and pink. It begins with a star medallion grounded in cream and edged in shades of blue over a partially open, cherry-colored field. The medallion is surrounded by chains of flowers and palmette pendants at top and botton, elements that repeat in the outer field. Spandrels are grounded in peach. The field is framed by compound borders featuring meandering floral and running water patterns over azure and cream. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with unbound cotton warp fringe. Unlabeled.
