A vintage hand tinted photogravure by listed nature photographer William James Harris (English-American, 1868-1940), titled On The Ocklawaha River Fla.. The photograph captures the wild beauty of the Ochlawala River, which is the largest tributary of the St. John’s River and a major tourist attraction during the Civil War when steam-powered riverboats took passengers up a jungle cruise to Silver Springs. This photograph depicts the wild pristine nature of the river with thick tropical plants bordering the banks and a white heron perched on a submerged tree trunk. The photograph is pencil-signed and titled to the mat, displayed under glass under an off white mat and embossed gilded frame. Wired to the back for hanging.
