The painting, in Reyes’ iconic style, which can be described as a marriage of Surrealistic and Expressionism, exhibits elements of Mexican folk art, Spanish colonial motifs, and Native American symbols, with a depiction of a majestic galloping horse, shown in a side view, with stylized mane and tail rendered in yellow gold with off white and black highlights and red accents, the body of the horse painted in a light brown wash of oil and plant-based paints, layered on the iconic crepe paper which is incorporated in much of Reyes’ oeurve. The background is in the natural light brown shade of the crepe paper. The painting is displayed under glass in a beveled dark wood frame, which is wired to the back. The painting is unsigned.
