Hand-Knotted Persian Heriz Area Rug

Item Details

A vintage hand-knotted Persian Heriz area rug. This wool rug begins with a large crenelated medallion in a palette of ash, cider, salmon, ivory, strawberry and black over a strawberry field. The field, medallion and spandrels are populated with classic Heriz-style rectilinear palmettes, leaves, flowers and vinework. Framing the field are compound borders, including a wide samovar main border over black. The rug finishes with overcast selvedges and short cotton warp fringe at top and bottom. It is labeled ‘Made in Iran’ to the verso.
