A Persian Hamadan carpet runner. This wool rug is hand knotted in a palette of midnight blue, cream, crimson, sapphire and apricot. It features a densely patterned allover herati field incorporating geometric palmettes, flowerheads, leaves and diamonds over midnight blue. The field is framed by three borders, including a wide, unresolved samovar border featuring stylized palmettes and vinework over cream. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short wool warp fringe. A label contains numerical codes but no maker’s marks.
